This program has been developed as part of the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series, which is designed for high-ability students, to offer them enrichment and extension outside of their normal classroom setting. It is free for Victorian government schools and travel is subsidised, funded by the Department of Education.
High ability students in years 9 and 10 work in teams and apply their acquired knowledge on viruses, mutations and transmissions when presented with a Global Pandemic. Students apply their acquired skills and knowledge throughout the experience using simulations, algorithmic thinking, and mathematics without numbers, words, or calculations during the immersive game, The Virus.
Part of this event will expose students to flashing lights in darkened rooms and may not be suitable for students with epilepsy/migraines/sensory input issues. If you are registering for this event, please include a note if this may impact any of your students so that we can discuss further with you.
We recommended students do not wear skirts/dresses.
Please check the registration form for how many spots are left on days not marked as "Full". The maximum number of students per day is 60.
