This unit is composed of five different modules that can be completed individually (approximately 4 hours each). The modules include:

Students will learn and test their knowledge in using their CAS calculator for Data Analysis through the following:
Using the CAS Calculator to investigate one and two Variable Data
Using the CAS to investigate and model linear association
Regression line, residual plot from table & straight from CAS
Hints and tips when using your CAS
Further Mathematics Unit 3 AOS 1: 1.2 - Data Distributions
Students will investigate data distributions, including:
Types of Data
Categorical and Numerical data
Using distribution/s of categorical data
5 number Summary, Boxplot and Outliers
Sample mean and standard deviation
Normal Distribution and Standardised Values (z-scores)
Population, sample and random numbers
Further Mathematics Unit 3 AOS 1: 1.3 - Two Variables
Students will be investigating associations between two variables, including:
Two Variable Statistics
Response and explanatory variables
Describing associations between two categorical variables and numerical and categorical variables
Scatterplots
Pearson correlation coefficient
Cause and effect
Further Mathematics Unit 3 AOS 1: 1.4 - Linear Associations
Students will be investigating and modelling linear associations, including:
Linear Association, Least Square Regression and Predictions
Coefficient of determination
Residual analysis
Data transformation and using this data to make predictions
Further Mathematics Unit 3 AOS 1: 1.5 - Time Series
Students will be investigating and modelling time series data, including:
Features of time series plots
Numerical and graphical smoothing
Seasonal adjustment
